Stephen Colbert is considering running for President. Again.
The “Late Show” host announced the news on Russian television, the only way Stephen Colbert could.
In a segment on “Evening Urgant”, a Russian late night talk show, Colbert annoucned, “I am considering a run for president in 2020 and I thought it would be better to cut out the middleman and just tell the Russians myself.”
“If anyone would like to work on my campaign in an unofficial capacity, just let me know,” Colbert added.
The announcement was a clear joke, aimed at the President Trump and the allegations surrounding his campaign and possible collusion with Russia to influence the 2016 American presidential election.
Colbert’s announcement came during a game of “Russian roulette” involving each of the late night hosts taking vodka shots from a spinning platter.
After taking his first shot, Colbert toast the “beautiful and friendly” Russian people, adding, “I don’t understand why no members of the Trump administration can remember meeting you.”
This wouldn’t be the first time Colbert has run for president. In 2008, the comedian ran for the White House in the state of South Carolina for a recurring bit on his show, “The Colbert Report”.
Colbert also responded to Trump on Twitter after the president tweeted admitting there were no “tapes” of his conversations with former FBI Director James Comey with a picture of himself in Russia.
