During her nasty divorce from Johnny Depp, Amber Heard claimed that her ex physically abused her (claims that Depp’s reps have continually denied), but some new allegations are surfacing claiming Depp had “gotten physical” with Heard during their brief marriage.
The allegations are coming from Depp’s former business managers, with whom he’s in the midst of a bitter lawsuit. Depp claims the management firm is responsible for landing him $40 million in debt, while the defendants maintain their innocence, contending that Depp’s out-of-control spending is to blame for his current financial mess.
As People reports, court documents filed by Depp’s former business managers, Joel and Robert Mandel, claim that Depp physically abused Heard, and tried to cover it up on at least one occasion.
“[Joel Mandel, one of the managers,] was informed well after the fact through communications with various house staff and security that Depp had been extremely volatile and had sometimes ‘gotten physical’ with Heard,” the actor’s former managers at The Management Group (TMG) claim in legal documents obtained by People.
“Mandel was also later informed that Depp had violently kicked Heard during an incident that took place in or around 2014,” the documents state.
However, TMG claims that Depp was fully aware that Heard’s charges were true, and that the actor “attempted to cover up evidence on one occasion.”
The court documents cite texts that were obtained by ET, which claim to document a conversation between Heard and Depp’s longtime assistant, who allegedly apologizes for Depp’s “disgusting” behaviour, at one point referring to an incident in which Depp allegedly kicked Heard.
“However,” reads the court docs, “Depp and his longtime assistant publicly denied the messages and outrageously accused Heard of manufacturing them. TMG is informed and believes that Depp knew full well that the text messages were genuine, but pressured and berated his assistant to falsely challenge the texts publicly.”
In addition, the documents state that “Mandel was also later informed that Depp had violently kicked Heard during an incident that took place in or around 2014.”
Depp is suing TMG for $25 million, claiming fraud and negligence; TMG responded with a complaint stating: “Contrary to Depp’s recent public statements that his exorbitant purchases were him ‘investing’ his own money, Depp’s extravagant spending has often been marked by a lack of impulse control and often increased immediately after Mandel would confront Depp regarding his finances.”
