Justin Trudeau and wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau were among the many dignitaries to march in this year’s Toronto Pride Parade, held on Yonge Street on Sunday, June 25.
The prime minister, reports Global News, was casually dressed in a pink shirt and blue blazer, sporting a painted-on rainbow maple leaf in his cheek as he waved to the thousands of people who lined Toronto’s most famous street.
Sophie Gregoire Trudeau was carrying a rainbow flag, a symbol of the LGBTQ community, while joined by two of the couple’s children, who marched alongside their parents.
Trudeau also stopped to hug a man in the crowd who was wearing a shirt emblazoned with the words “Thank You” along with a photo of the PM.
Before the parade, Trudeau shared his thoughts about the importance of the Pride Parade.
“It’s all about how we celebrate the multiple layers of identities that make Canada extraordinary and strong,” Trudeau told reporters.
