Britney Spears Shuts Down Lip Sync Accusations: ‘There’s A Mixture Of My Voice And The Playback’

Britney Spears wants you to know she is singing live.

The “Sumber Party” singer has shut down rumours that she lip syncs during her Piece of Me Las Vegas show. In an interview with an Israeli outlet, Spears, 35, says that people have it all wrong.

“A lot of people think that I don’t sing live. I usually, because I’m dancing so much, I do have a little bit of playback, but there’s a mixture of my voice and the playback,” Spears revealed.

“It really pisses me off because I am busting my a** out there and singing at the same time and nobody ever really gives me credit for it, you know?” she continued.

At the beginning of June, Spears kicked off a set of concerts in Tokyo, Japan. She faced accusations that she was lip syncing during the shows when her hair got caught in her microphone during one concert and the audio continued to play.

Spears has faced these rumours before. In 2014, her manager Adam Leber told Medium that it is nearly impossible for her to sing live because she dances so much during her Las Vegas show.

“To put on the show that she puts on, it’s virtually impossible to sing the entire time and do what she does. She’s singing on every song, basically, when she has the ability to sing. There’s no way you can dance for 90 minutes straight and sing the entire time,” Leber revealed.
