No one can ever accuse Scott Patterson of not getting into his roles.

The ‘Gilmore girls’ star (a.k.a. Luke Danes to all you Gillies) has for 7.5 seasons supplied everyone’s favourite mother/daughter pair with all the coffee their hearts can handle as the proprietor of Stars Hollow’s modest — yet consistently busy — diner. After serving up all that java, Patterson must think himself a bit of a connoisseur, which is why he is launching his own line of coffee called Scotty P’s Big Mug Coffee. Catchy, right?

“We’re almost ready to launch,” he revealed on WealthManagement.com, “but we want to have our ducks in a row before we come out with it. Quality coffee is something that I am obsessed with. It’s the thing I look forward to every morning and throughout the day and throughout the evening and now throughout the middle of the night.”

Sounds to us like a bit of Lorelai Gilmore has rubbed off on our Luke. No word yet on when the coffee will be available for purchase nor whether it will be available in Canada.

Fans will recall the frenzy the Luke’s Diner popup cafes caused when they, er… popped up to promote Netflix’s 2016 release, “Gilmore girls: A Year in the Life” last year, so those loyal to the brand will undoubtedly throw their support Patterson’s way and sample his new brew. They can then continue the theme and skip right over dinner to dessert:

Thank you to all those fans who participated in our #GilmoreGirlsIceCream contest! After combing through over 2,500 entries, we are thrilled to announce the winning flavor! They Scoop Gilmores, Don't They? Coffee (of course) chocolate pudding ice cream (because Emily is trying after all) but oy, with the snickerdoodles already– topped with pink [Pop Tart] sprinkles. There were so many excellent options, puns and flavor combinations that we couldn’t choose just one. The winning flavor is an amalgamation of three amazing suggestions: @pauline__beal’s allusion to Emily’s attempt at chocolate pudding, @ryebecca’s ingenius “oy with the snickerdoodles already” and @jjjmmd’s name– a reference to a reference to a reference. This flavor will be available at all our NYC scoop shops beginning this week and is available for nationwide shipping now! You can order individual pints in a Choose Your Own Story 5-Pack or opt for a Gilmore Girls-themed 4-Pack: Where You Lead, I Will Marshmallow (name suggested by Rebecca Phillips). Copper boom!

Another food item that served as a “Year in the Life” promo (though not officially) was this coffee-flavoured chocolate pudding ice cream (with Pop Tart sprinkles, natch), “They Scoop Gilmores, Don’t They?” Named after the season-three episode, “They Shoot Gilmores, Don’t They?” (itself a reference to the 1969 film, “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They”). Brought to you by the Brooklyn-based Ample Hills Creamery, the ice cream, sadly, is no longer available (unless collectors want to scour eBay for a tub).

Clearly if Gillies can’t be sated with new episodes of the beloved show, they can be sated with delicious food and drink.
