In a gorgeous shoot at Christian Dior’s former summer home in Southern France, Bella Hadid opened up to InStyle magazine about growing up with famous friends like Kendall Jenner and where she wants her career to take her.
Even after following in her mother Yolanda Hadid’s modelling footsteps, the 20-year-old star said she just wanted her own independence, “I’m not saying I don’t love my job, but people think modelling is a bulls**t thing to become more famous,” she said.
“I was 100 per cent independent by the time I was 18, and I paid for my own apartment. That wasn’t because of my parents,” she continued. “I worked my a** off for two years.”
While growing up with cameras surrounding her when her mother was the star of “The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills”, the young model knew the reality show lifestyle wasn’t for her, “I’m not really into the whole gossip thing or the drama, but there are some parts that are funny…” she confessed. “The women [on that show] are all super cute. I’m not sure I could be on reality TV. It’s nothing against them – love them, bless their hearts. But I think I’m going to stick with modelling for now.”
If anyone knows the meaning of hard work, it’s @bellahadid. “I’m not saying I don’t love my job, but people think modeling is just a bullsh- thing to become more famous," she tells @cristobalita in our August issue. While one of her best friends Jenner is used to the constant cameras, Hadid and the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star’s friendship goes back way before their modelling careers took off: “I was probably 14 or 15. We met up and had sushi, and now we’re best friends. She’s a pretty significant human I met online.”
As Hadid continues to get more and more successful, acting is something she can see in her future, “People think that I don’t smile and I’m super cold… With acting you can show more of who you are. I would have to get a hold of my ADD, but otherwise I think it would be fun.”
The August issue of InStyle hits newsstands July 7.
