It’s time to go back into the jungle.
The first trailer for the “Jumanji” sequel/reboot, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” was released Thursday, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart coming to life in the game.
Directed by Jake Kasdan (“Bad Teacher” and “Sex Tape”), the film serves up a new twist as a group of high school misfits rediscover an old video game console and, after choosing their avatars, are sucked into the game and become those characters played by Kevin Hart, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black and Karen Gillan.
“It is very much the spirit of Jumanji, but with a different group of people and sort of a different idea. But the idea of the game that comes to life is the DNA there,” the movie’s producer, Matt Tolmach, said to Entertainment Weekly.
Since the movie takes place where Alan Parrish (Robin Williams) was trapped for many years, Black teases that the movie comes across evidence of his time inside the game.
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” opens December 20.
