The ongoing copyright dispute over “Blurred Lines”; has generated an interesting reveal from Pharrell. He says that hit tune was inspired by Miley and not Marvin.

“I had Earl Sweatshirt in one room and Miley Cyrus in the other. I was doing a bunch of country-sounding music with Miley,”; Pharrell told the court, claiming his work with Miley was rubbing off on the track. “It was like blending this country sound with this up-tempo groove.”;

The children of Marvin Gaye are currently suing over how similar Robin Thicke’s hit “Blurred Lines”; sounds compared to their dad’s single “Got To Give It Up”;.

Pharrell stressed that he would never intentionally steal from Gaye and that he merely borrowed the feel of that song’s era.

“I must’ve been channeling…”; said Pharrell before pausing. “…that feeling, that late-’70s feeling. Sometimes when you look back on your past work, you see echoes of people. But that doesn’t mean that’s what you were doing.”;

“Blurred Lines”; has earned $16 million since its “creation”; and it’s been revealed that both Robin Thicke and Pharrell admit that the tune was written exclusively by the “Happy”; hitmaker with the bulk of the lyrics coming from Pharrell as well.
