‘The Jetsons’ May Be Heading Back To TV As A Live-Action Sitcom

Get ready to meet “The Jetsons” all over again.

A new live-action take on the retro cartoon is in early stages of development according to TVLine. The original series about the futuristic space family ran from 1962 to 1963 and again from 1985 to 1987.

The animated Hanna-Barbera classic which followed an average outer space family was set 100 years in the future. Full of flying cars, a robot nanny and a lot of technology that has since become our standard way of living like smart watches, newspapers that can be read digitally and flat screen TVs.

Like its predecessor, the live-action series would be set 100 years in the future, beginning in roughly 2118. “Back To The Future” director Robert Zemeckis and “Will & Grace” writer Gary Janetti are developing the project with Warner Bros.

The studio has not commented on the project but insiders say they will be shopping around for a network home for the sitcom in the coming weeks with casting to follow.
