The boy band star was at Buckingham Palace as part of the Young Leaders Awards, where he joined the likes of Mo Farah, Anita Rani, and Caspar Lee to meet Her Majesty and Prince Harry.
Perhaps as a result of the classy surroundings, Liam abandoned his baggy jeans and oversized hoody for a suit and tie and a pair of geek-chic specs.
His new look was all that fans could talk about, as Twitter lit up, comparing the Strip That Down singer to Harry Potter.
Liam would not be deterred, however, as he took to Instagram after the event to share his gratitude.
He wrote: “An absolute honour to meet the Queen today on such a fantastic occasion. Privileged to share the room with such inspirational @queensyoungleaders, hear their stories and how they are helping to rebuild and preserve a sometimes broken world.”
The recent father is clearly proud to be part of the Queen’s Young Leaders Initiative, where he will now help mentor young people from around the Commonwealth. But still, his achievement didn’t stop the Twitter comments from rolling in.
