Neil Young and Promise of the Real have come together for the song “Children of Destiny”.
In the music video, which was directed by Young’s Shakey Pictures, the Canadian music icon has a message for America.
Combining footage from anti-Trump protests, patriotic scenes like young children waving the American flag and, of course, some Fourth of July cookouts, Young asks for everyone to come together.
“Stand up for what you believe / Resist the powers that be / Preserve the ways of democracy so the children can be free,” Young sings on the song.
Recording with Young’s regular collaborators, Promise of the Real, which is the band made up of Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah Nelson, the song is a full-scale production.
There is also a 56-piece orchestra featured on the single, which ups the total of 62 musicians featured on the song.
