Shia LaBeouf Returns To The Big Screen As John McEnroe In ‘Borg Vs. McEnroe’

Shia LaBeouf will take on the role of tennis legend John McEnroe in the new trailer for the upcoming film “Borg Vs. McEnroe”.

The flick follows McEnroe and Swedish rival Bjorn Borg, the two champs who played in 14 official tennis matches from 1978 to 1981, both walking away with seven victories each.

Stellan Skarsgard co-stars and Sverrir Gudnason will play Borg, along with his real life son, Leo Borg, who will play his dad in his pre-teen years.

Real-life McEnroe told Vanity Fair that he hasn’t been involved in any way with the film, “I don’t know if they are planning on doing the whole movie without input or any type of arrangement from me or Bjorn,” he previously told the mag. “I haven’t see anything, and they’ve already started the movie.”

“I’ve never see a good tennis movie – they all were terrible,” the tennis star added. “I’ve been in a couple of them, and it was embarrassing to me how bad they were. But sometimes you have to hope for the best.”

“Borg Vs. McEnroe” will debut Sept. 17.
