Another 4th of July, another victory for hot dog eating champion Joey Chestnut, and for America.
Joey Chestnut—Jaws, as he’s known—claimed first place for the tenth time at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island, chowing down 72 hot dogs and buns in just 10 minutes, breaking his own previously held record of 70.
Chestnut has won the Independence Day contest every year since 2007, except in 2015 when he was bested by Matt Stonie, who this year came in third with only 48 dogs.
The challenge from Stonie has brought excitement to the contest, which Chestnut has been easily dominating since Takeru Kobayashi dropped out in 2010 over contract disputes.
The internet went wild over Chestnut’s victory, taking to Twitter to celebrate.
