Margaret Atwood Wants Drake To Cameo In Next Season Of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

“The Handmaid’s Tale” author and noted Toronto resident Margaret Atwood wants Drake, the poster boy fro the 6ix, to make a cameo in season two of the dystopian Hulu series based on her seminal 1985 novel.

In a recent discussion with fellow author Junot Diaz published in the Boston Review, Atwood says she hasn’t met rapper and proud Torontonian yet.

“I haven’t met Drake, but I have of course met people who have met Drake. But you have to realize how o-l-d I am,” the 77-year-old author claims. “I’m not likely to go to the same parties. Or many parties at all, to be frank.”

Diaz, is one of many people who believe Atwood and Drake, 30, should join forces.

“I just think that, Canada — I’ll say this to the whole nation — you are missing a great opportunity to put these two folks together,” he says. “Have you listened to his music? Do you have any opinions?”

Atwood of course, would love to see Drake show up in season two of the series starring Elisabeth Moss and Joseph Fiennes.

“Wouldn’t it be fun for him to have a cameo in season two of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale?'” she asks.  “I’ll drop that notion into the ear of Bruce Miller, the showrunner, and see what he can do with that, because of course the show is filmed in Toronto.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be the first acting role for Drake, who got his start on TV’s “Degrassi: The Next Generation” in 2001. As for who the Grammy-winner could play, Atwood already has an idea.

“Maybe Drake could help smuggle someone,” she says.
