“The Real Housewives Of Orange County” is about to get a whole lot… friendlier?
Dubbed the “nice” housewife during her season 8 stint on “RHOC,” Lydia McLaughlin is back for season 12, premiering July 10 on Slice. After leaving the franchise to raise her family and help her husband launch the luxury magazine Nobleman, the New Brunswick native is now sharing her reasons for stepping away.
She tells ET Canada, “I knew on ‘Housewives’, girls fight, but I honestly thought, Once the cameras go down, everyone really loves each other and drinks martinis on the beach. It’s fine. And it wasn’t! They really don’t like each other! What you see on TV is real, and so I wasn’t mentally prepared for that.”
However, the 36-year-old mother of three says that taking a break helped her remember all the things she enjoyed about being on the reality series.
“I miss it,” she admits. “I have space in my life to do it again, and maybe this time it’d be a little more fun because I know what to expect.”
This time, McLaughlin says fans can expect an inside look at her family, faith, and friends — mixed with a whole lot of “Housewives” drama, of course.
“A lot’s happened for me in the last four years, and I feel like I’m a lot stronger now,” she says. “This time, I have a little more of a voice.”
