In HBO’s docuseries “The Defiant Ones” which chronicles the relationship between Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, the famous rap producer has opened up about a 1991 incident between him and Dee Barnes.
Dr. Dre took issue with Barnes’ interview with Ice Cube and the producer wanted to discuss it with her a party the two were at. In her interview, she allegedly dissed Dre’s group N.W.A. and he wasn’t pleased.
In the second part of HBO’s “The Defiant Ones” series, Dre addressed the incident and his past issues with women.
“Any man that puts his hands on a female is a f**king idiot. He’s out of his f*king mind, and I was out of my f**king mind at the time. I f**ked up, I paid for it, I’m sorry for it, I apologize for it,” Dre said.
“I have this dark cloud that follows me and it’s going to be attached to me forever. It’s a major blemish on who I am as a man,” the producer admitted.
Barnes hasn’t directly responded to Dre’s recent apology but she did post a picture of them on Instagram with the caption “Six Degrees of Separation” on Monday.
