Julianne Hough is gushing about her romantic outdoor wedding to Brooks Laich that took place over the weekend.
Appearing with her new husband on this week’s cover of People, the 28-year-old “Dancing with the Stars” judge unveils the details about her picture-perfect wedding to the 34-year-old Canadian hockey player, which took place July 8 on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, nearly two years after the couple got engaged.
“When I introduced Brooks to the lake, he fell in love with this special spot, and we knew this was where we wanted to raise our family and grow old together,” Hough, who wore a custom Marchesa gown for the ceremony, tells the magazine about her favourite childhood spot. “It just felt right to be married here.”
With the help of event planner Troy Williams of Simply Troy Lifestyle + Events, the couple’s wedding reception reportedly included “more than 2,000 blooms” as floral arrangements, which were later donated to The Full Bloom, a non-profit organization which repurposes floral bouquets for individuals dealing with terminal and other life-changing conditions.
As the magazine reports, Brooks wore a Brooks Brothers tuxedo during the ceremony, which saw the couple exchange Lorraine Schwartz rings. “We never stopped looking at each other,” Hough says. “I couldn’t stop crying all weekend and most people [thought] I would have cried during the entire ceremony, but instead I was just so excited.”
Some highlights of the night reportedly included Hough’s bridesmaids performing a choreographed dance routine to Sia’s “The Greatest”, as well as fireworks going off during the couple’s first dance to OneRepublic’s “All This Time”, as part of a surprise from Hough to the groom.
