Being a first-time father is clearly having an impact on Ryan Gosling, who gushed about baby Esmerelda and girlfriend Eva Mendes while promoting his his directorial debut Lost River at SxSW, currently underway in Austin, Texas.
According to Us Weekly, Ryan was onstage speaking with director Guillermo del Toro when he remarked, “I really like working with my friends; I love all of these people.
Quipped del Toro: “You have a baby with one of them!” referring to Eva, Ryan’s co-star in the film.
“I do,” replied Ryan, launching into a discussion about films that feature themes of female empowerment. “I have lots of complicated, amazing women in my life,”; he said, referencing Evan and their baby, “and that’s increasing.”;
Meanwhile, Ryan sat down for an interview with The Los Angeles Times and opens up about being arrested in Detroit while filming Lost River when police suspected him of stealing copper wire from a vacant building.
“I’m not proud that I was arrested,”; he said, “but it did give me one of the central pieces for the main character”; in the film, about a single mom (Mad Men“s Christina Hendricks) struggling to hold onto her home while neighbouring houses are being demolished.
