Disney’s D23 expo continues to serve up serious scoop for fans, with Saturday’s presentations debuting a behind-the-scenes look at the greatly anticipated sequel “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” as well as a new trailer for an anticipated Marvel sequel.
The three-minute “Star Wars” BTS clip serves up a tantalizing first look at the upcoming film, and also features several poignant glimpses of the late Carrie Fisher, who passed away in December after filming her scenes as General Leah Organa.
In addition to the clip (which can be seen above), “Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson surprised fans with on-stage appearances by cast members Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro.
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” hits theatres on Dec. 15, 2017.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that D23 also brought the first trailer for “Avengers: Inifnity War”, which brought fans to their feet (although it has yet to be unveiled on YouTube).
On hand to introduce the trailer were stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Don Cheadle, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie and co-director Joe Russo.
Among the revelations from the trailer, reports THR: Spider-Man is seen in a high-tech new costume; Captain America now has a big, bushy beard, and has apparently been off the grid for some time before returning to the Avengers fold; Star Lord (Chris Pratt) and the Guardians of the Galaxy will be a part of the action, as will Dr. Strange.
“Avengers: Inifnity War” opens May 4, 2018.
