“We love this movie and we are working hard,” said director Jon Favreau.

As the film has already nabbed big names, the list is growing. Donald Glover will voice Simba, James Earl Jones with return to voice Mufasa after playing the lion in the 1994 animated original, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner will take on Timon, John Oliver as Zazu and the rumoured Hugh Jackman as the villainous Scar.

Twitter erupted with excitement after an unofficial rumour that Jackson would be joining the sure-to-be blockbuster. Fans were excited to see the 48-year-old actor take on the iconic role.

Unfortunately, Jackman’s reps told TheWrap there is “absolutely no truth” to the rumour the actor joined the remake playing Scar.

The live-action remake is set to hit theatres July 19, 2019.
