The actor took to Twitter on Monday to explain the reason for his hospitalization. While the filming for his new show “Shooter” has been gruelling, Phillippe explains the incident was actually the result of an accident during a family get together.

According to the star, his leg is broken and it required surgical attention, but he is expected to make a full recovery. He thanked his fans for their well wishes and support. He also thanked the first responders who helped him and the medical staff taking care of him.

ET Canada reached out to Phillippe’s rep for a comment but we have not heard back.

Deadline is reporting that as a result of the actor’s injury, the second season of the show will be cut short. Instead of the expected ten episodes, it has been reduced to just eight. Production had continued without Phillippe but now the network has decided to end the season with the eighth episode. While this obviously wasn’t the plan, the episode actually works as a season finale.

“Our priority is Ryan’s recovery, and after conversations with our partners at USA and UCP we’ve decided that we will wrap S2 with episode 208,” Paramount TV said in a statement.
