* So remember on Sunday night’s X Factor New Zealand, when contestant Joe Irvine was publicly humiliated by husband and wife judges Natalia Kills and Willy Moon? It turns out Natalia was outraged (outraged!) that Joe would dare sport an outfit and hairstyle similar to her dear hubby’s (video below). Anyhow, two great things have come from this. 1) Natalia and Willy were fired for their abhorrent behaviour. And 2) sweet, good-natured Joe has received some encouraging words from superstar Ed Sherean. “Enjoy yourself with it, that’s what singing is about, not what other people think,” the ginger-haired singer posted on Twitter. He added that Joe shouldn’t “worry about what anyone else says.” Sage advice indeed.

* Who doesn’t like celebrating the awesomeness of Betty White? America’s sweetheart with an AARP card is getting honoured yet again, this time at next month’s Daytime Emmy Awards. The 93-year-old actress will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award on April 26 as part of the Burbank set shindig. “Betty White is an American institution,”; said National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences prez Bob Mauro in a statement accompanying the news. “Betty’s career as a female pioneer has followed television from literally the beginning of the medium, winning her first Emmy Award in 1952, to the digital-streaming future, winning again in 2010. She is one of the most beloved female performers in the history of television and the National Academy is proud to be honoring her with a most well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.”; Congrats Betty!

* “Earl Sinclair’ is a name you likely haven’t heard in a a good long time. To refresh your memory, he was the Homer Simpson-esque dad from the early 1990s prime time sitcom Dinosaurs. And recently, some random person thought it might be clever to mash up some viz of ol’ Earl to the tune of the Notorious B.I.G.’s Hypnotize. The end result is way more awesome than it has any business being. (NOTE: It’s Biggie we’re talking about here, so the lyrics are pretty NSFW.)

* Elisha Cuthbert is the blonde staring back at you on the cover of the April edition of Fashion. The former Popular Mechanics for Kids host touches on everything from being inspired by Ellen to an encounter with Joni inside the pages of the mag. “When I met Joni Mitchell, I was dumbfounded… I cannot wait to get to a point when I’m [Mitchell’s] age,”; shared Elisha. “She has no filter, she’s clever and she’s a genius. She has also reverted to not giving a damn about stupid things. I’m excited for that time.”; The Canadian actress is making her post Happy Endings return to the small screen courtesy of a starring role in the new Ellen DeGeneres produced sitcom One Big Happy where she plays a lesbian that’s pregnant with her best friend’s baby. Elisha told Fashion that Ellen’s relationship with her wife Portia de Rossi’s is something to be admired. “They are a couple that all married people can look up to,”; said the actress. “They’re very supportive of one another and they have each other’s backs. When Ellen was busy doing her talk show and couldn’t be with us, de Rossi stepped in. One could easily not care about the other’s endeavours, but Portia really did. That was so sweet.”; The April 2015 issue of Fashion comes out on newsstands and iPads on March 23.

* Sinead O’Connor says she’s parting ways with her biggest hit. The Irish recording artist has informed fans that she’ll no longer be singing “Nothing Compares 2 U”; because she doesn’t feel enough of a connection with the song anymore to trot it out. “OK, the time has come for me to cease singing Nothing Compares 2U.”; wrote Sinead on Facebook. “The first principle of the manner in which I’m trained as a singer (Bel Canto) is we never sing a song we don’t emotionally identify with. After twenty-five years of singing it, nine months or so ago I finally ran out of anything I could use in order to bring some emotion to it. I don’t want audiences to be disappointed coming along to a show and then not hearing it, so am letting you know here that you won’t. If I were to sing it just to please people, I wouldn’t be doing my job right, because my job is to be emotionally available. I’d be lying. You’d be getting a lie. My job is to give you honesty.”; The upside we suppose is that the song’s author, some dude by the name of Prince, still gives “Nothing Compares 2 U”; a workout on a regular basis. [NME]
