‘Supergirl’ Turns Darker In Season 3, Revealed In New Trailer Unveiled At Comic-Con

Fans at Comic-Con received a special sneak peek at the next season of “Supergirl” in a panel devoted to the upcoming third season.

“The theme of Season 3 is ‘What does it mean to be human?'” said the show’s new showrunner, Jessica Queller, reports Mashable. “All of the characters will be exploring that question, especially Kara.”

And while that doesn’t bode well for the super-powered heroine played by Melissa Benoist, the panel also revealed some cast additions for season three, including former “Heroes” star Adrian Pasdar in the role of sinister real-estate tycoon Morgan Edge, who bears more than a passing resemblance to a certain American president. His plans for National City promise to put him in opposition with Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) and Supergirl herself.

In addition, Carl Lumbly of “Alias” fame is joining the series as M’yrnn J’onzz, father of the Martian Manhunter (David Harewood), while Yael Grobglas (“Jane the Virgin”) will guest star as psychic villain Psi. Emma Trembley (“Elysium”) will also guest as a fan named Ruby, whose extreme fascination with Supergirl places her in grave danger.

The new season kicks off in October, airing in Canada on Showcase; in the meantime, you can watch full episodes online.
