The first single to be released from Shania Twain’s new album now has a new video to go along with it, with the release of the video for “Life’s About to Get Good” from her new album, “NOW”.
It’s a song of triumph over heartbreak, and while the tone is jubilant the lyrics are raw, honest and emotional.
“I wasn’t just broken, I was shattered/ I trusted you so much, you were all that mattered,” she sings in the first verse, with the second verse even more gut-wrenching. “The longer my tears fell, the wider the river/ It killed me that you’d give your life to be with her.”
But in the song’s chorus, Twain leaves all that behind. “Life’s about joy/ Life’s about pain/ It’s all about forgiving and the will to walk away. I’m ready to be loved/ And love the way I should/ Life’s about, life’s about to get good.”
“I’m a songwriter first. That absolutely drives everything. It was a big step toward independence. I pushed myself, knowing it was going to scare me and knowing that I, alone, was responsible for however it turned out,” says Twain of being the sole songwriter on her new album.
“I love collaborating, but I didn’t want any emotional, psychological, or musical influence,” she adds. “The minute you invite somebody into that space, you’re influenced. And then it wouldn’t be me. It wouldn’t be pure. This may be the purest work I ever do.”
