* 14 years after its theatrical release, Super Troopers is getting a sequel! And it’s all thanks to Indiegogo. Fans of the original cult classic cop comedy raised $2 million over the crowdfunding campaign’s first 24 hours. And with 31 days of fundraising left, there’s nowhere to go but up. * It’s official. Jeremy Clarkson’s time with Top Gear is up. The BBC confirmed that they will not renewing the host’s contract following an incident where Clarkson allegedly struck and verbally abused a producer. “It is with great regret that I have told Jeremy Clarkson today that the BBC will not be renewing his contract,”; said BBC Director General Tony Hall in a statement on the decision. “It is not a decision I have taken lightly. I have done so only after a very careful consideration of the facts and after personally meeting both Jeremy and Oisin Tymon.”; This was not the first controversial incident to be affiliated with the dropped host. * Albums from Steve Martin, Radiohead and Lauryn Hill have all been selected to enter the U.S. Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry. 25 recordings were revealed to be Registry-worthy this morning, meeting the requirement of being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.”; Recordings from Sly & The Family Stone, Blind Lemon Jefferson, The Righteous Brothers, The Doors, Joan Baez and a steady stream more also made the cut. * Could Idris Elba be the next big screen Star Trek villain? Variety says they have sources passing along the news that the Luther star is in early talks to be the big bad in Star Trek 3. There’s no word yet on the character Elba could be playing in the highly anticipated threequel that’s scheduled to hit theatres in July of next year. Justin Lin will be directing the latest film in the franchise and the screenplay is a co-penned creation from Simon Pegg and Doug Jung. [Variety]

The critically acclaimed rapper’s latest release, To Pimp A Butterfly, moved 363,000 equivalent album units to land in the top spot on the trusted U.S. album chart. It’s the first #1 album for the “i”; rapper and his chart-topping performance bumps the Empire soundtrack down to the #2 slot. Modest Mouse’s latest full-length (Strangers To Ourselves) debuted at #3 and Marina and the Diamonds cracked the Top Ten for the first time with an opening bow at #8. * Go-go-Gadget Reboot! Inspector Gadget“s updated CGI incarnation is set to debut on Netflix this Friday and now there’s a trailer that teases what’s on its way.
