Kiiara was at the Panorama Festival in New York on Sunday where she performed a tribute to late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington.
The two artists were no strangers, with Kiiara having done guest vocals on Linkin Park’s song “Heavy”.
After performing her usual set, Kiiara used the final minutes of her time to pay her respects to Bennington, who died July 20 from suicide.
Kiiara paused for a moment to say, “It’s been… a pretty rough week. I don’t know what to say and there’s nothing really to say to make it better, but these next two songs are for Chester.” She then sat down as “Battle Symphony”, a track off Linkin Park’s latest album played.
Soon after, “Heavy” began to play — its video airing in the background — with Bennington’s recorded vocals, and Kiiara and her band filling in their parts live.
Once she was finished she said simply, “Thank you, New York,” and left the stage.
Kiiara’s tribute to Bennington wasn’t the only memorial to a late artist at the Panorama Festival. According to Billboard, while performing on the festival’s main stage, A Tribe Called Quest paid tribute to their late member Phife Dawg.
