Ryan Reynolds is on the cover of the September issue of Men’s Health further confirming the rumours he’s an all-around nice Canadian boy who just happens to be a bad cook in a “feud” with Hugh Jackman.
The 40-year-old Vancouver native may excel at playing the foul-mouthed Deadpool, but don’t let him anywhere near the kitchen. “I am not innovative in the kitchen,” the actor says of his limitations when it comes to cooking. “If I cook, you’ll have a structure fire. The firemen will kick down our door, take my wife away, and give her a better life.”
His wife of course is Blake Lively. Married since 2012, the couple share two children, James and Ines. In his Men’s Health interview, Reynolds has some fatherly words of wisdom which explain why he has a reputation for being such a nice guy.
“There’s an old saying on a film set, ‘If you can’t find the a**hole, it’s you,'” he explains. “At work, I like everyone to be part of the process. That means if the caterer has a good idea, you want to hear it.” But that doesn’t stop the “Hitman’s Bodyguard” star from throwing in a few curse words or making jokes online.
“I’ve certainly said things online where I’ve thought, ‘oh boy’. I’m fortunate that there’s some precedent for me acting like a jacka$$,” he says, adding, “I love a good compound swear word. This party’s s***ty isn’t nearly as effective as ‘This party’s a total s**t symphony.'”
Part of his online persona is feuding with his X-Men comrade, Hugh Jackman who notoriously ate 6,000 calories per day with 2 a.m. meal times when bulking up to play Wolverine.
“Hugh Jackman has a dedication to his craft that I’m afraid I don’t share. If I’m up at two in the morning, it’s because something has gone terribly wrong,” he jokes of his fellow actor who also has a reputation for being a nice guy. Reynolds loves to serve up some hot takes with Jackman online. After Jackman posted a photo of himself with Chinese fans, Reynolds was quick with a retort, writing, “Pretty sure those are protesters.”
“Busting balls is a great thing, but busting balls needs to work in stark contrast to that person’s character,” he says of his “feud” with the Aussie.
Fans will have to wait until June 2018 to see Reynolds in “Deadpool 2”, filming in Vancouver this summer.
On Monday, Reynolds tweeted a sneak peek at the “Deadpool” sequel:
But, to hold you over the actor will return to the big screen on Aug. 18 in the action-packed buddy cop comedy “The Hitman’s Bodyguard”, opposite Samuel L. Jackson.
