It takes a big woman to admit that she was wrong, and Taraji P. Henson is admitting she was out of line for accusing a police officer in Glendale, Calfornia, of racially profiling her son when he pulled the kid over.

The actress, who stunned viewers this season with her incendiary performance as Cookie Lyons in the Fox mega-hit Empire, has backed off her claims that her son was harassed by a racist cop.

The reason: the Glendale PD released a dash cam video of the incident, proving the officer could not have been more pleasant, even letting Taraji’s son, Marcel Johnson, off with a warning after committing a traffic violation and possessing Ritalin without a prescription.

Taraji made the claims in a magazine interview, in which she said: “My child has been racially profiled. He was in Glendale, California and did exactly everything the cops told him to do, including letting them illegally search his car. It was bogus because they didn’t give him the ticket for what he was pulled over for.”;

After the video’s release, however, Taraji issued a public mea culpa: “I would like to publicly apologize to the officer and the Glendale Police Department,”; said Taraji in an Instagram message. “A mother’s job is not easy and neither is a police officer’s.”;

She added: “Sometimes as humans WE overreact without gathering all of the facts. As a mother in this case I overreacted and for that I apologize… Thank you to that officer for being kind to my son.”;
