Little Big Town is not a band known for being controversial, but the Alabama vocal group’s latest tune is being deemed too scandalous for country radio, and is being yanked off numerous country stations throughout the U.S.

That’s because the band’s latest single, “Girl Crush,”; is being accused of “promoting the gay agenda”; due to its provocative lyrics about a woman sexualizing her jealousy of her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend.

“I want to taste her lips, yeah cause they taste like you / I want to drown myself in a bottle of her perfume,” sings LBT vocalist Karen Fairchild. “I want her long blond hair, I want her magic touch / Yeah cause maybe then, you’d want me just as much. . . I got a girl crush.”

As reported by The Washington Post, the program director at a Texas radio station claimed that he was besieged by angry callers. One caller, he related, said: “You are just promoting the gay agenda on your station and I am changing the channel and never listening to you ever again!!”

Despite the radio reaction and charges that “Girl Crush”; is “a lesbian song”; (although a close look at the lyrics reveals it really isn’t), the song is nonetheless a huge hit, selling 25,000 copies a week.

Addressing the controversy, Fairchild told The Washington Post she was surprised by the negative reaction. “It’s a genius lyric, such a beautifully written song about jealousy,”; she said. “It was like, “Why would we not cut this?’ “
