Rihanna Apologizes To Diplo After It Was Revealed She Turned Down Appearing On A Song

Rihanna is kind of sorry for not yet collaborating with Diplo after his many, many attempts.

In a new interview with GQ, Diplo revealed he has tried countless times to get Rihanna featured on one of his songs, but she hasn’t been impressed with what she has heard.

Rihanna infamously turned down singing the vocals on the Major Lazer hit “Lean On” and it appears Diplo tried a few more times after that. “I played her ‘Lean On.’ She was like, I don’t do house music. I face-palmed so hard on that one,” Diplo said.

“Future played her, like, 700 songs. It was four in the morning. Finally, I was like, ‘Yo, G, I’m leaving unless you let me play her a song.’ So I played her a song. And she was like, ‘This sounds like a reggae song at an airport’, I was like, ‘I’m gonna kill myself’,” the producer joked.

On Tuesday, Rihanna took to Instagram to kind of apologize to Diplo for comparing one of the songs he played for her as a “reggae song at an airport”.

Rihanna posted a screencap of an article about the situation and captioned the photo with “#DutyFree 😂😂😂 My bad @diplo.”

After the fallout from his comments in GQ, Diplo said he and Rihanna had a conversation about possibly, finally, doing a song together. In an interview with “The Elvis Duran Z100 Morning Show” on Tuesday the producer said you never know what to expect when trying to get an artist on a song.

“I had this interview I did last month for GQ and this Rihanna quote in it, it was really funny about my relationship with her in the studio. It was a small fragment of the interview and it became the whole interview for me,” Diplo said.

“It became the headlines and eventually Rihanna Instagrammed the interview, and eventually we DMed each other on Twitter about a song. It’s all about a good connection, you never know what to expect,” he revealed.
