BREAKING: Kelly Clarkson is pretty great.

The “Heartbeat Song”; singer appeared on today’s edition of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and she addressed her body shaming critics, UK TV fixture/columnist/bully Katie Hopkins being chief among them, with dignity, heart and charm. Kelly told Ellen that she’s always had to deal with critics taking shots at her so this wasn’t a recent development.

“I love how people think that’s new,”; said Kelly. “Like, welcome to the past 13 years.”;

The singer revealed that she felt picked on all the way back to her days on American Idol.

“I was the biggest girl in the show too,”; remarked the arena-filling star. “And I wasn’t big, but people would call me big. Because I was the biggest one on Idol, I’ve kind of always gotten that.”;

Kelly admitted that what really upsets her about the shots at her personal appearance is the impact it has on her fans. She says she’s seen the nasty spinoff effects firsthand.

“I think what hurts my feelings for people is that I’ll have a meet and greet after the show and a girl who’s like bigger than me will be in the meet and greet and be like, “Wow, if they think you’re big I must be so fat to them,'”; shared Kelly. “And it’s like, you’re just who you are. We are who we are — whatever size. And it doesn’t mean that we’re gonna be that forever.”;

Also in the mix during Kelly’s appearance on Ellen: The latest duet in the show’s Bathroom Concert Series. Kelly and Ellen wore comfortable robes, tackled “Since U Been Gone”; and looked to be having a blast while doing so.
