Thomas Rhett And Wife Lauren Akins Welcome Baby Girl: ‘The Most Amazing Thing I’ve Ever Experienced’

Congratulations are in order for Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins, who welcomed their daughter Ada James Akins on Saturday night.

According to People, a rep confirms the baby was born at at 10:28 p.m. in Nashville, Tennessee, weighing 7 lbs., 3 oz.

Rhett made the joyous announcement on Twitter, sharing a photo of himself, his wife and their new baby shortly after her birth.

“It was truly the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced,” writes the country star, whose real name is name is Thomas Rhett Akins Jr. “Thank you Lord & everyone for the prayers.”

Akins shared the same photo on Instagram, writing: “Our baby girl is here💗 sweet Ada James Akins came into the world at 10:28 last night after almost 36 hours of labor (only Jesus got me through that-& she is sooo worth it😭💛). She weighs 7 pounds 3 ounces and is so stinking cute I just can’t take it! We are all doing well now, just resting. Thank y’all for your prayers-she is a miracle and God is so good. Thomas Rhett and I are so I love with her. And Willa Gray is so excited to finally have a baby sister 😘 More pics to come, so get ready haha.”

Little Ada James is the couple’s second child, joining her 21-month-old big sister Willa Gray, whom the couple adopted from Uganda back in May.

The couple had already begun the adoption process when the Rhett, 27, and his one-time high-school sweetheart, 26, discovered they were expecting.

“I was in complete and utter shock!” said Rhett back in February. “No one is ever prepared for something like that. It is almost like we suddenly had twins.”
