Concertgoers at the Boots And Hearts Festival were surprised to see Luke Bryan riding around the Burl’s Creek Event Grounds on a bicycle before he hit the stage at the country music fest over the weekend.
Bryan, who is no stranger to Boots And Hearts, says he “relishes any opportunity” to come to Canada and play for his Canadian fan base. And a tour stop in Canada means he can explore his surroundings a little bit.
“I’m kind of riding by the campgrounds…nobody’s expecting me on a bike,” he explains to CMT’s Paul McGuire, adding that he likes to wear a “redneck version” of cycling spandex. “I do a cabela shirt up top and then just the little pants.”
And if you’re thinking the image of festival headliner Bryan riding around the festival grounds in cycling shorts is kind of funny, you’re right.
“People were heckling me a little bit and I’m like, ‘You don’t even know who you’re heckling, you idiot.’ But it was fun,” he says. But his pre-stage cycle break didn’t go off without a hitch.
“I’m riding around and this guy’s like, ‘Stop!’. I’m like, ‘Hey man, I’m Luke,'” he says, telling Paul once he explained and got off his bike, he posed for selfies.
But it’s not just cycling in Bryan’s future. He teases there’s new music on the way: “New music coming very soon.”
