Lady Gaga is about to face deposition in the legal feud between Kesha and her long-time music producer Dr. Luke.
Dr. Luke is currently suing Kesha for defamation over sexual assault allegations she has made against him. Last month his lawyers filed a motion to interview Gaga, and E! News has now confirmed that the “Bad Romance” singer will indeed be deposed.
Court documents acquired by E! News state that Gaga “will appear for a deposition pursuant to [Dr. Luke’s] subpoena in this action during the month of September 2017.”
Gaga will also “produce unredacted copies of certain of the documents that were previously produced in redacted form.”
Last month, a representative for Gaga released a statement, saying, “As Lady Gaga’s legal team will present to the court, she has provided all of the relevant information in her possession and is at most an ancillary witness in this process. Dr. Luke’s team is attempting to manipulate the truth and draw press attention to their case by exaggerating Lady Gaga’s role and falsely accusing her of dodging reasonable requests.”
The date and time of the deposition have not yet been set; the parties have all agreed to settle on a date no later than Aug. 19.
Back in March, Gaga spoke to Carson Daly about the case, saying, “I think that people should just know that there’s so much more than what meets the eye in a case like that. I feel like she’s being very publicly shamed for something that happens in the music industry all the time, to women and men. I just want to stand by her side because I can’t watch another woman that went through what I’ve been through suffer.”
