Jay-Z Brushes Off Infamous Elevator Fight With Solange: ‘We’ve Always Had A Great Relationship’

Jay Z is finally addressing the elevator scuffle with Solange Knowles.

The “99 Problems” rapper reflected on the incident in a rare interview with Tidal’s “Rap Radar” podcast. Security video captured an angry Solange lashing out at Jay Z in an elevator following the 2014 Met Gala.

“We’ve always had a great relationship,” Jay-Z said of the altercation. “We’ve had one disagreement ever. Before and after, we’ve been cool.”

The rapper and business mogul compared his relationship with Solanage to how he fought with his brothers growing up. “It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space, but it ain’t nothing,” he continued.

“She’s like my sister,” he insisted. “I will protect her. That’s my sister. Not my sister-in-law. My sister.”

Reflecting on his own recent success, as well as that of wife Beyonce and sister-in-law Solange, the “Holy Grail” of hip hop said it was just a matter of time. “I’ve always loved Solange’s music,” he explained. “I think she was slept on before [“A Seat At The Table”]. I thought the album before this one was amazing too. Incredible artist.”
