Chance the Rapper loves to give back to his community.
The three-time Grammy-winning rapper presented terminally ill teen Heidi Hernandez, 17, with tickets to see her favourite band Coldplay. Hernandez described her love for the band in a report by Chicago’s ABC7 News.
“I got into a really bad depression where I wouldn’t even be able to go to school,” an emotional Hernandez expressed. “And I just started listening to [Coldplay’s] music and it made me feel a lot better.”
Hernandez is dealing with a failing liver due to primary sclerosing cholangitis, an affliction she has had since the age of three. The young teen’s manager at work reached out to Chance and asked for help getting tickets to see the band.
The “Colouring Book” artist successfully delivered the tickets to Hernandez when they met at an airport.
Chance, 24, has recently embarked on a parade of good deeds, both figuratively and literally. The artist donated $1 million to Chicago Public Schools, handed out free backpacks and school supplies to kids as Grand Marshal of Chicago’s back-to-school parade, offered internships to young people and has put on free concerts.
Chance recently topped multiple music charts alongside DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne and Quavo with their multi-platinum hit single “I’m the One”.
