Katy Perry takes to the basketball court for “the most absurd game of the century” in the new music video for her single “Swish Swish”.
After previously releasing a lyric video for the song starring Brazilian Meme Queen Gretchen, the 32-year-old singer returns with a star-studded cast in the latest set of visuals.
The clip sees the “Bon Appetit” hitmaker become “Kobe Perry”, a basketball player taking on a rival team called The Sheeps, and she is joined by an array of famous faces including Molly Shannon, Terry Crews, NFL player Rob Gronkowski, and cast members from “Game Of Thrones”, “Stranger Things”, and “GLOW”. Feature artist Nicki Minaj also appears on the court, sporting a visor and black leather corset.
“Swish Swish” is taken from Perry’s most recent album, “Witness”, which was released back in June. The song is believed to be a diss-track towards Taylor Swift, a long-time enemy of both Perry and Minaj. Perry fueled that speculation earlier in the week when she tweeted about the upcoming video: “COUNTDOWN TO CATASTROPHE!”
Fans of the “Shake It Off” singer will remember that Swift used the alter-ego ‘Catastrophe’ in her video for “Bad Blood”, the alleged Perry diss-track.
The early response to the new “Swish Swish” video has been mixed.
