The NHL Playoffs may be kicking off this evening, but The W Network’s Hockey Wives has already been coasting along in dramatic style. With the fifth episode set to air tonight, cast star Maripier Morin shared her thoughts on what makes the reality show so engaging.
“We all have so many ideas about what it’s like being married to a professional athlete,”; says Morin, who’s dating Montreal Canadiens left winger, Brandon Prust. “So I thought it was cool to show how it is for real.”;
The series shows the behind-the-scenes aspects of being married to a hockey player, from dealing with the pressures of trades and travel, to career uncertainty and injury.
But Morin says one concern she had before originally joining, was the potential of the series to follow in the footsteps of the overly intense reality show environment like The Real Housewives. Even her husband Brandon was skeptical.
“He’s like, “Okay, is it going to be like “Housewives’?”; she says. “Because that was the scary part…you see girls throwing glasses at each other and fighting.”;
But Morin is confident that this show is different, dubbing it as “more on the docu-series side.”;
