Floyd Mayweather is riding off into the sunset with a pretty professional boxing record and a championship belt featuring 3,360 diamonds and 3.3 pounds of 24-karat gold.
Boxing’s greatest active commodity stuck true to his word and defeated two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor in a spectacular cross-over bout. The five-division world champion, 40, won via TKO in the 10th round after a competitive nine rounds. Before and after the bout, he insisted this fight would mark his official retirement.

McGregor showed impressive skill throughout, arguably winning the first three rounds before trading rounds midway through. “The Notorious” one began gassing in the eigth round and opened himself to Mayweather’s strikes.
“Money” Mayweather entered the bout with a nearly unparalleled 49-0 record taking on “The Notorious” Irishman. Mayweather’s movement and counter striking were key versus McGregor, the latter of whom had never competed in a professional boxing match.

The bout may potentially break the previous PPV record of 4.6 million sales for Mayweather’s fight against Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather is rumoured to take home an estimated $300 million.
Following the fight, the two competitors lauded each other at separate press conferences.
“That’s what 50 pro fights will do for you,” said McGregor of Mayweather. “He’s not 50-0 for no reason.”
Meanwhile, Mayweather had this to say about McGregor: “He’s a lot better than I thought he’d be. He’s a tough competitor…He kind of shocked me.”
