The “Greenlight” singer took to the 2017 MTV VMAs stage to perform “Homemade Dynamite”, but not quite how her fans expected. As opposed to singing, as Lorde has been known to do from time-to-time, she instead broke into some sort of interpretive dance.
Lorde, 20, stepped onto stage and placed a cassette in a boom box. She then mimed pressing play and bewildered the audience with her wiry dance moves. The exceptional singer didn’t even bother lip-syncing!
Her confusing onstage display may have to do with a flu the singer is fighting. “You can’t tell in these pictures but i have the flu so bad i needed an IV,” she tweeted earlier.

Evan Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine was thrown off by the onstage display.
