Rita Ora made her comeback to the pop charts earlier this summer with “Your Song”, the singer’s first new music since her 2012 debut album “Ora”. Co-written by Ora, Ed Sheeran and producer Steve Mac, the first single from her upcoming album shot all the way up to #7 on the U.K. charts.
Now, Ora has reunited with Sheeran for a stripped-down acoustic duet of the song, which presents the tune in a whole new light — and which will probably be more readily embraced by Sheeran fans.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ora sang the praises of Sheeran and Mac, whom she described as “some of the most talented songwriters of our time.”
In fact, she pointed out that she and Sheeran actually go way back. “Ed and I have been friends since our teens,” she said. “It’s brilliant to have the opportunity to collaborate with him for my first single — we definitely click creatively.”
It’s a given that some fans will prefer the slick studio version (produced by Mac), while others will swear by this new acoustic duet. Feel free to compare and contrast the new acoustic version (above) with the original, below:
