Honey, Alexander Payne shrunk the movie stars.
For his newest film “Downsizing”, Payne directs an all-star cast including Matt Damon, Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis.
In the film, a new form of technology is developed that shrinks people down to a fraction of their size. Smaller bodies mean smaller houses, smaller food, smaller clothes and, so the logic goes, smaller bills.
Damon and Wiig star as a married couple who decide to shrink themselves to solve their financial woes. At first, their new tiny lives seem practical and idyllic, but they soon discover all is not what it seems in micro-neighbourhood Leisureland.
“Downsizing” also stars Laura Dern, Neil Patrick Harris, Christoph Waltz, Niecy Nash, Udo Keir and Hong Chau.
The film is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. It will also be the opening film at the Venice Film Festival. “Downsizing” hits theatres on Dec. 22.
