“Girls Trip” was one of the summer’s hottest big-screen comedies, and anyone who’s seen the laugh-out-loud flick will recall a hilarious scene involving a grapefruit that’s put into service to aid a sexual act.

And while the idea of “grapefruiting” may have been a whole new thing for many who watched the racy R-rated movie, the actress reveals that she’s been familiar with the technique for some time, courtesy of husband Will Smith.

“Will was the first one to tell me about it years ago — 10 years ago,” she explained during an interview on Australia’s “Sunrise” morning show. “‘And I was like, ‘Are you trying to tell me something?'”

So what exactly is this grapefruit trick? She explained it — sort of — to Jimmy Kimmel during an appearance on his talk show earlier this year, answering Kimmel’s queries of whether “this is a real thing or a movie thing?”

“This is a real thing,” she insisted. “People will ask you, ‘Have you been grapefruited?” Kimmel, in case you’re wondering, had never been grapefruited, although Pinkett Smith promises that if he sees the movie he’ll “get a real clear tutorial on it.” Watch:
