Miley Cyrus was moved to tears as she announced that she would be donating $500,000 to Hurricane Harvey victims during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.
The 24-year-old broke down as Ellen explained that Miley and her Happy Hippie Foundation would be donating the huge amount to the worthy cause, with the singer insisting that “she knows what it feels like to have everything taken away.”
Miley sobbed: “I can’t really talk about it I don’t even know why it makes me so upset, it just makes me so upset.
“My grandma’s here, my mom’s here, I go home to my seven dogs and if I didn’t have that anymore it’d just be really hard.
“So, I’m really happy to help in any way that I can and I hope people understand I can put myself in those people’s shoes and know exactly what it feels like to have everything taken away from you.”
As it stands, an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 homes have been destroyed in the Houston area, according to ABC News, and the death toll is now thought to have reached 38 at least.
Ellen, 59, also confirmed that she would be sending some much-needed money to those who are suffering in Texas.
The presenter announced that she had teamed up with Walmart to donate $1 million to J.J. Watt’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
