Drake has donated $200,000 to relief efforts in Houston in the wake of the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.
The Canadian rapper donated the money to Houston Texans star J.J. Watt’s Houston Flood Relief Fund on YouCaring. Drake also posted a video on Instagram, sending his love to the victims and the people assisting in aid.
“To the resilient people of Houston and the entire state of Texas,” Drake says. “I would like to send you all of our love and all of our prayers. To the brave men and women that have assisted in aid, relief and rescue, your actions are truly heroic.”
Drake also thanked fellow Canadian Belinda Stronach for her donation, and asked fans to follow them in opening their hearts and wallets to help the people of Houston.
“The journey to rebuilding is going to be a long one,” Drake says, “so anything you can give is greatly appreciated.”
Watt’s relief fund surpassed his goal of $10 million in donations, with over 100,000 individual donors, and high profile donations from Ellen DeGeneres and Miley Cyrus.
