Say hello to Entertainment Tonight’s newest correspondent!
“People here at ET make it look really easy, but it’s not,”; says Cameron Mathison, the Ontario-born soap star-turned-entertainment reporter.
Cameron, who was only on Day 5 of the job when we caught up with him, gave us a behind-the-scenes look at what his day at ET entails.
First, he meets with Executive Producer Brad Bessey to go over the day’s top entertainment stories and how the show will cover them. While some new bosses can be intimidating, Cameron says Brad has been really supportive. “It’s been so welcoming here at ET, I can’t even tell you,”; Cameron says.
After his meeting with Brad, Cameron heads over to his dressing room which is really just a bare-walled room with a desk and adjoining bathroom. “It doesn’t have a lot of my personality yet, but it’ll come along,”; Cameron says almost apologetically as he picks out a tie.
From there, Cameron heads over to the audio booth to record voiceovers that will be used in stories, teases and promos.
Finally, it’s over to the ET set where he bumps into fellow Canadian Jason Priestley who’s a studio guest on the show. The two shake hands and make small talk. When Jason asks what Cameron thinks of the ETgig, Cameron doesn’t blink before saying, “I love it!”;
Cameron then takes a seat at the ET desk where he and host Nancy O’Dell read through their scripts. After a last minute makeup touchup, it’s showtime! Nancy and Cameron, filling in for the dayfor co-host Kevin Frazier, pre-record all the show’s on-camera elements, as well as any promos which will air throughout the day in the US and Canada.
“I’m not tired when I’m at work,”; Cameron says of his hectic schedule, “(but) when I get home, I’m like, “ahhh.'”;
With his day wrapped, Cameron makes sure to squeeze in a special message to ET Canada, saying: “I know that you are partially responsible for where I am right now and I love you for it and I love you anyway, even if I didn’t get this job, so thank you.”;
We love you too, Cameron! Mwah!
Watch the sneak peek below and tune-in tonight for the full set visit with Cameron.
