Shia LaBeouf’s character from “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” won’t be making an appearance in the next “Indiana Jones” flick.

The ending of 2008’s “Indiana Jones” movie teased Indy’s son, played by LaBeouf, would be his father’s successor. That no longer seems likely. “Harrison plays Indiana Jones, that I can certainly say,” screenwriter David Koepp tells EW. “And the Shia LaBeouf character is not in the film.”

Production could begin on the next movie anytime now. “We’re plugging away at it,” Koepp continued. “In terms of when we would start, I think that’s up to Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Ford.”

He teased how “some precious artifact that they’re all looking for” will be the focus of the movie. “I know we’ve got a script we’re mostly happy with. Work will be endless, of course, and ongoing, and Steven just finished shooting ‘The Post’… If the stars align, hopefully it’ll be his next film.”

LaBeouf criticized the production of “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” in a 2010 interview with the Los Angeles Times. He believed he “dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished,” adding how Ford wasn’t happy with the movie.

The face of Indiana Jones and Han Solo responded by calling LaBeouf a “f*g idiot.”
