Liev Schreiber Meets Dogs Displaced By Hurricane Harvey During ‘Live With Kelly And Ryan’ Appearance — And Adopts Them On The Spot

Celebrities often receive a gift bag after appearing on a TV talk show, but Liev Schreiber walked out of “Live With Kelly and Ryan” with something a whole lot more special than that: a pair of adorable dogs from Houston, who were left abandoned and homeless due to Hurricane Harvey.

The dogs were brought on the show by Home for Good Dog Rescue in order to raise awareness of the thousands of animals in similar straits since the devastating storm and ensuing flooding.

In the backstage video (above), filmed in the show’s green room, Schrieber is instantly smitten by the dogs, one named Woody, the other without a name.

During his appearance on the show, the “Ray Donovan” star jokingly told hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest that “I just had a dust up with one of your producers. I don’t think it’s fair or appropriate that your producers get to take all of the dogs that came from Houston.”

He added: “My sons want a dog and I found the perfect dog, but one of your producers already wants my dog,” with Seacrest responding: “I think this is going to work out for you.”

After speaking by phone with ex Naomi Watts and their sons, Sasha and Kai, Schreiber received the go-ahead. As a result, he took his new pets with him after the show, sharing the moment on Instagram.

“Look what I just got,” he wrote in the caption. “Couple of orphans from Houston checking out the Big Apple for the first time. Thank you #kellyandryan #harvey”
