Kelly Clarkson has a new album on the way, “Meaning of Life”, and she’s excited for everybody to hear it — so excited, in fact, that after she previewed some of the tunes from the upcoming release during a Facebook Live Q&A on Wednesday, she released a few tracks in full Thursday.

“The inspiration behind my new album is, well, I’m free!” declared Clarkson in answer to a fan question, reminding that it’s only now that she’s finally completed her contractual obligations to “American Idol”.

“It’s my first album to make outside my contract from ‘Idol’, so, you know, I got to actually pick who I’m working with,” she explained.

“I didn’t know it could be like this,” she added. “I literally just cried a lot before, so it’s really fun, and it’s cool, 15 years later, to get to experience this.”

Later in the 18-minute Q&A (above), Clarkson performed a few of her favourite new tunes from “Meaning of Life”.

One of those tracks, “Love So Soft” was dropped on Thursday.

She also released another new song, “Move You”.

The new album will be available everywhere Friday, Oct. 27.
