Canadian-born actor Bruce Greenwood surprised us all when he walked into Joan’s life on Sunday’s “Mad Men”. We sat down with him in Los Angeles and he told us the secret has been killing him! Bruce couldn’t even tell his friends! “”Why didn’t you tell me? How could you keep that a secret for a year.’ Because that’s what the contract says. It was hard to keep quiet, it was exciting, it was fun to do it and it was hard to lock it down for a year.”;
In the episode Bruce plays Richard, a suave gentleman who catches the eye of Christina Hendricks’ character Joan. During the episode Richard has second thoughts about a relationship after finding out Joan has a child – but at the end returns to apologize, asking “Can I call you?”; to which she replied “Yes.”; So does that mean we’re going to see more of Richard during the fourremaining episodes? “I am not allowed to say anything and I actually don’t know… so maybe that’s saying too much.”;
One thing Bruce could confirm, he is very glad he’s not living in 1969: “You walk around in one of those leisure suits and you kind of think, when is it going to burst into flames. I was fortunate they had fire professionals on the set.”; But he certainly didn’t mind the scenes in bed, “She’s really gracious and easy to talk with. You know lying in bed with some people it’s tricky if you don’t just kind of give in, and it was easy.”;
As for what he hopes will be in Joan’s future on”Mad Men”, “For Joan, the realization of her deepest desires.”;
